Blackwater Garden Centre is West Waterford's leading Garden Centre.  You'll find us nestled on a hill overlooking Youghal Bay, close to the Waterford-Cork border. Making amazing compost is incredibly easy. It saves money, produces the most precious ingredient for your garden, and makes you feel incredibly virtuous. If you're working on reducing waste, this is a great step forward! 

We will be looking at the end product, then how to produce it – with no smells, no flies, no additives, and no turning of contents.

We'll also have a FREE DRAW for 2 compost bins!!

On Thursday, April 25th, we joined with 25 other independent Irish garden centres and helped to Spread Happiness in our local community, by leaving our businesses and giving away 12,000 Irish grown plants, valued at €50,000, over a 10 hour period.  No catch, no conditions, just a beautiful geranium to spread happiness and get the growing season off to a wonderful start.  

    If you were one of the lucky recipients of a pink, red or white geranium, we'd love to see your photos and would be delighted to help you with any growing advice you need!  If you didn't get a free plant, pop into the garden centre to buy yourself some happiness of your own!  Check out this dedicated facebook page for growing tips and photos!

May is the month for communions.  We can help to fill up your pots and window boxes so the house will be at its best for your family's celebration.  Bring in your old pots and window boxes (or we can help you pick new ones) and we will plant them up and keep them in tip top condition until you are ready to collect them.  It's just one less thing to worry about.  

Now is a fantastic time to plan for summer colour.  You can fill planters, window boxes and herbaceous borders with wonderful colour.  Come and have a chat to us if you need help or ideas!

Geraniums provide long lasting reliable colour.  They love the sun in window boxes and hanging baskets are easy to grow and require minimum care.

Surfinia are available in amazing colours to suit any colour scheme from white and lime to black.  They provide flowers until the first frosts and produce hundreds of flowers (no exaggeration!)

Violas will be in flower all Summer.  They provide gorgeous small flowers and are even edible if you feel like adding them to a sald.  they'll also grow in sun & shade, so suitable for all kinds of conditions.

Few shrubs give as many flowers as Roses in a season.  We can recommend many varieties for their amazing fragrance, they're wonderful to cut and bring inside.

Everlasting wallflowers provide not just colour, but incredible fragrance too.  They also have a love affair going on with poor soil, so if your garden is a bit lacking in the nutrients department, try these.

Non Stop Begonias have been the stars of our last few wet summers and low light levels.  They have fabulous flowers in wonderfully cheerful summer colours and seem to flower forever.
